Case summary
Sageyev, together with the other defendants, Agayev and Akhmedov, were detained on 23 November and arrested on 25 November 2021. The two defendants were sent to pre-trial detention centre, Akhmedov - under house arrest.
On 8 June 2022, the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the IC for the Republic of Tatarstan reported about the transfer of the case to the court. The prosecution asked to sentence the defendants to eight, seven and five years' imprisonment. All three pleaded not guilty, and their lawyers insisted on their acquittal.
On 13 March 2023, Naberezhnochelninsk city court passed a sentence, Sageyev received 2 and a half years in a penal colony. Presumably, he was released in August 2023.
