Case summary
Resident of the Ulyanovsk region. Presumably detained in the summer of 2020 on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation due to involvement in the activities of the Islamic movement Tablighi Jamaat. Its adherents are persecuted solely because of their religious activities. He was under a recognisance not to leave the country. On 13 April 2022, Shabanov was sentenced to three and a half years' suspended sentence.
