Case summary
A resident of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and a supporter of the "Citizens of the USSR" movement. He was detained in May 2022 and remanded in a pre-trial detention centre on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist community. On 14 July 2025, Shoev was sentenced to five years in a general-regime penal colony. On 4 February 2026, the court of appeal reduced his sentence to three and a half years. Shoev was released on 27 February 2026.
