Case summary

On the night of 27 March 2017, he was detained at his home on suspicion of assaulting a police officer during the dispersal of the rally on 26 March. At this action Shpakov was detained and beaten, in connection with which he was sent to a trauma centre from the IAB. During the investigation, the appointed lawyer forced Shpakov to confess and agree to a special trial - he expected that the sentence would be suspended. In addition, the lawyer extorted money from his family for any information about him. On 24 May 2017, he was sentenced to one and a half years in a general regime colony. In the colony, Shpakov was placed in a punishment cell. On 12 September 2018, Shpakov was released.
