Case summary
Resident of St Petersburg. On 17 March 2023 he was taken into custody on charges of financing terrorism. Later it became known that he was also accused of illegal formation of a legal entity. "Izvestia" claims that Siomik worked with phone scammers from Ukraine and transferred rubles stolen from pensioners to their accounts. "Beware of the News" notes that on social networks Siomik supported Russia and the Russian army. On 15 July 2024, Siomik was acquitted in a terrorism financing case because it turned out that he had sold his card from which the transfers were made earlier than they were made. On the charge of illegally forming a legal entity, he was sentenced to two years and eight months in a penal colony and released from custody in the courtroom because he had actually served the sentence. On 23 October 2024, the court of appeal overturned the acquittal in the terrorism financing case and returned the case to the first instance court. New witnesses appeared in the case - two prisoners who had allegedly met Siomik in detention centres: according to them, he told them that he would lie during the investigation, but in fact he was assisting the AFU. At the same time, another prisoner spoke at the trial, who claimed that Siomik, on the contrary, while in custody, said that he was accused of financing terrorism, while he did not. According to the defence lawyer, the court ignored the words of this witness. On 23 April 2025, Siomik was sentenced to ten years in a strict regime colony.
