Case summary

Subbotnikova was detained on 10 October 2020 after dispersing a rally in support of the former governor of Khabarovsk Krai Sergey Furgal. On 12 October, she was detained as part of a criminal case of violence against a representative of the authorities and sent to a temporary detention centre, later that day she was released on her own recognisance. Initially, two cases of violence against a representative of the authorities were opened against Subbotnikova in connection with two episodes that allegedly took place at the rally on 10 October. Later they were merged into one case. In addition, Subbotnikova was accused of insulting a representative of the authorities. In December, the investigator dismissed the case, considering that since the representatives of the authorities mentioned in the case were in civilian clothes on 10 October, Subbotnikova could not have known that they were police officers.

In April 2021, it became known that the prosecutor's office requested to resume the inspection against Subbotnikova.
