Case summary
Detained on 28 November 2019 on charges of using violence against a representative of the authorities. On 29 November he was taken into custody by court order. On the same day it became known that the investigation against Surovtsev was completed.
On 24 December, sentenced to two and a half years in a general regime colony. In April 2020, Surovtsev was moved to Tver region (region north-west of Moscow) until the appeal was considered - according to unconfirmed reports, in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
On 9 April 2021, the court of cassation instance replaced Surovtsev's general regime colony with a settlement colony. Surovtsev was released on 30 December.
