He delivered multiple blows with his hands and feet to various parts of the body of police lieutenant S. Sarukhanov. Initially he was charged with the use of violence against a representative of authority, dangerous to life and health (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code), but in March 2023 the investigation reclassified the charges, considering that since Sarukhanov was in civilian clothes, Ubaidulaev could not have known that he was a representative of authority. The defendants claim that they responded to the screams of a girl whose phone had been stolen during the rally. They suspected Sarukhanov, who was in civilian clothes, of the theft.
