Case summary

Detained in Naberezhnye Chelny (a major an industrial city in west-central Russia) and placed in custody on 29 May on charges of organizing activities for an extremist organization. On 9 November, he was placed under house arrest. Later, he was released with a travel restriction. On 27 November 2019, the court returned the case to the prosecutor's office, noting that different versions of the indictments were provided to the court and the accused. It was also unclear how the actions of the accused were classified under either part 1 or part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code. In April 2020, the investigation was resumed. On 16 December 2021, he was sentenced to two years and nine months suspended sentence.
