Case summary
Resident of Novoaltaysk (Altai Krai). In December 2023, he was detained at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia when he was trying to cross the border with Georgia. He was arrested for 15 days under the administrative article on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). It was only in April 2024 that the North Ossetian FSB Directorate released a report about an unnamed 20-year-old young man detained in December who intended to travel to Ukraine to take part in hostilities against Russia. At the time Zabolotskii was in custody on charges of preparing to commit high treason. On 28 October 2024, he was sentenced to five years in a strict regime penal colony.
