Case summary

Zagidullin was detained and remanded in custody in October 2016, along with eight others, on charges of participating in the activities of an extremist organisation; a search was also conducted at his home. He admitted his involvement with Tablighi Jamaat but refused to plead guilty to participating in extremist activities. On 20 April 2017, he was sentenced to three years and nine months in a penal colony. On 26 September, an appellate court reduced the sentence to two years and seven months.
