Case summary

A resident of Chelyabinsk, who participated in public activities and election observation. On 15 March 2024, he was detained in the entrance of his house, after which he was arrested for three days in connection with the publication about the creation of a memorial to Alexei Navalny: the reason was the use of the logo of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which was considered as a public demonstration of extremist symbols (Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences). After that, a criminal case was opened against Zamanov for using violence against a representative of the authorities during detention. Zamanov claimed that his phone was taken away from him during detention, after which he was forced into a police car and only there was shown police ID card. According to the case materials, he beat the police officers, knowing that they were representatives of executive bodies. Zamanov was under recognizance not to leave, which was later cancelled. On 17 October 2024, he was sentenced to a fine of 150 thousand rubles.
