Case summary

In the morning on 4th of March, 2011 operatives of the Interior Ministry's North-West Federal District Department and the District Centre for Combating Extremism searched Zentsov's home, after which he was effectively declared a suspect; after interrogation, he signs a covenant not to leave; on March 11th, 2011 he is charged under Part 2, Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organisation); on 23rd of March, officers of the Interior Ministry's directorate for the North-West Federal District broke into the flat of Olga Zhukova, Zentsov's wife, an activist of the St. Petersburg-based organization "Other Russia", and summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code. 282.2 of the Criminal Code, threatening that in case of her refusal to comply they would bring her in handcuffs and send their child to social workers; on September 14th, 2012 Zentsov petitioned to dismiss the case against him for the expiration of the statute of limitations, and on 18th of September the court granted the petition.
