Case summary
Resident of Omsk, security guard. He was detained at an anti-war protest on 6 March. His relatives lost contact with him, and he was located only on 12 March in the hospital at the Sklifosovsky Emergency Medical Research Institute. He had been taken there because he had ingested methadone following his arrest. Zhuchkov was subsequently placed in custody. Initially, a criminal case was initiated regarding preparation for hooliganism by a group of persons using weapons. On 6 March, an anonymous VKontakte group, "Polite People / War," published a report stating that explosives were found on two citizens detained at Pushkinskaya Square. On 5 May, it became known that the charges had been reclassified to preparation for a terrorist act by a group of persons. On 20 April 2023, Zhuchkov was sentenced to 10 years in a strict-regime penal colony. On 27 September 2023, an appellate court reduced his sentence by two months. In March 2024, it was revealed that while in transit to a prison in Minusinsk, Zhuchkov was beaten by inmates at a pre-trial detention center in Krasnoyarsk, where he had been held for several days. Prior to this, prison staff had demanded that Zhuchkov inform on his cellmates; when he refused, he was transferred to another cell, where he was subjected to beatings and threatened with rape if he did not cooperate with the administration.
