Case summary
Ziyattinov was detained on 24 April 2018 in Kazan in connection with alleged involvement in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, unrelated to terrorism. On 25 April, the Vakhitovsky district court of Kazan chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
On 22 January 2020, he was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony.
