Case summary
He is a resident of Bakhchisarai. On 11 May 2016, a case on participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation was initiated; on 12 May, Abseitov was detained in connection with his alleged involvement in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which has nothing to do with terrorism. On 13 May, he was taken into custody. He was also charged with preparing for a violent seizure of power. On 24 December 2018, Abseitova was sentenced to nine years in a strict regime colony. On 11 July 2019, the court of appeals reduced the sentence by three months. On 11 February 2025, Abseitov was released.
