Case summary
Resident of Bakhchisarai, cook. On 11 May 2016, a case on participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation was opened, on 12 May Memetov was detained for alleged involvement in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which has no relation to terrorism, and on 13 May he was placed in custody. Later, he was also accused of preparing for a violent seizure of power. On 24 December 2018, Memetov was sentenced to nine years in a strict-regime penal colony. On 11 July 2019, the appeals court reduced the sentence by three months. Memetov was released on 11 February 2025.
