Case summary

Ali Asanov was detained on 15 April 2015 as part of the case of clashes in Simferopol on 26 February 2014, accused of participation in mass riots; it was also reported that Asanov was to be accused of the death of two people as a result of these clashes. He was in pre-trial detention, on 6 April 2017 he was transferred to house arrest.

In June 2018, Ali Asanov was sentenced to four years and six months suspended sentence. The probation period was three years.
