The reason for the case was the Pussy Riot clip "Mum, don't watch TV", published on YouTube in 2022: according to the investigation, the video clip and the English-language commentary to it form a "semantic unity" in which "on the grounds of political hatred" knowingly false information about Russian Armed Forces is disseminated. The second episode in the case was the group's participation in a protest action in Munich's Pinakothek der Moderne art museum on 18 April 2024: according to the investigation, the Pussy Riot members "publicly, in an organised group, on the grounds of political hatred, shouted slogans about the destruction by Russian Armed Forces of the civilian infrastructure [in Ukraine?] during the special military operation", and one of them urinated on Putin's portrait.
