The ground for initiating the criminal case was Pussy Riot music video "Mom, don't watch TV," published on YouTube in 2022. According to the investigation, the video clip and the accompanying English-language comment form a "semantic unity" that spreads knowingly false information about the Russian Armed Forces "on motives of political hatred". The second episode of the case concerns the group's participation in a protest action at the "Pinakothek der Moderne" art museum in Munich, held on 18 April 2024. According to the investigation, members of Pussy Riot “publicly, in an organised group, motivated by political hatred, shouted slogans about the destruction of civilian infrastructure by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation [Ukraine?] during the special military operation” and one of them urinated on a portrait of Putin.
