The reason for the case was the Pussy Riot music video titled “Mom, Don’t Watch TV”, published on YouTube in 2022: according to the investigation, the video clip and the English-language commentary to it form a “semantic unity” in which knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is disseminated “motivated by political hatred”. The second count in the case was the group’s participation in a protest action in Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne Art museum on 18 April 2024: according to the investigation, the Pussy Riot members “publicly, in an organised group, motivated by political hatred, shouted slogans about the destruction of civilian infrastructure by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation [Ukraine?] during the special military operation”, and one of them urinated on Putin’s portrait.
