Ruslan Gabbasov

Bashkir activist. He left Russia after a case of preparation for hooliganism was brought against other local activists in January 2021. In September 2022, a case was brought against Gabbasov himself for organising the activities of an extremist community - the national public organisation Bashkort. In October 2022, Gabbasov was included in the register of "foreign agents". In February 2023, the Prosecutor General's Office declared undesirable the "Free Nations League", a non-governmental organisation registered in Lithuania - a platform of national movements of the peoples of Russia. Gabbasov is one of the participants of the platform. In April 2023, another case was brought against Gabbasov for public justification of terrorism.

In November, a case was brought against Gabbasov's brother, Rustam Fararitdinov, as part of a case of facilitation of terrorist activity. According to Gabbasov, his brother was told that he would be released if Gabbasov returned to Russia.

In January 2024, a case was opened against Gabbasov for organising mass disorder in connection with a people's assembly in Baymak on 17 January in support of another representative of the national movement, Fail Alsynov, who was sentenced to four years in prison. It later became known that as part of this case Gabbasov is also accused of participating in the activities of an "undesirable organisation" (presumably the Free Russia Forum) and evading his duties as a "foreign agent". On 24 March 2026, he was sentenced in absentia in this case to 14 years' imprisonment.
