A resident of Karachay-Cherkessia. On 6 December 2023, he was detained and then taken into custody on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation in connection with alleged involvement in At-Takfir wal-Hijra (some human rights activists believe that such an organisation does not exist) and weapons possession. In February 2025, an official report was published, according to which Gandaev was sentenced to three years and two months in a general regime colony. Presumably, he was released in April 2025.
