Gaianov is a resident of Bashkortostan. On 25 May 2021, he became a suspect in a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation due to his alleged involvement in the organisation Takfir wal-Hijra, the existence of which some experts question. Ildar Abdurakhmanov, whom the investigation believes to be the organiser of the unit, claimed that he and the other defendants were "forced to confess" to involvement in the organisation's activities by threats and blackmail. On 21 January 2026, Gaianov was removed from the list of extremists and terrorists of Rosfinmonitoring.
