Case summary
A Ukrainian serviceman was taken prisoner in the occupied territory of Ukraine’s Donetsk region. According to the project Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial, this reportedly occurred in 2023. However, the project politzek.org states that he is accused of having taken part in hostilities in 2024. Gura was charged with involvement in the activities of a terrorist organisation due to his participation in the Azov Battalion. On 16 October 2025, he was sentenced to 14 years in a high-security penal colony.
