Detained on March 22, 2016, and subsequently placed in custody on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organization due to his involvement with the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. On March 24, 2017, he was sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment.
While in detention, he was accused of recruitment to a terrorist organization and propaganda of terrorism because of his conversation with cellmates. In October 2020, he was sentenced to 9 years in a strict regime penal colony.
