Case summary
Resident of the Penza region. On 17 June 2020, he was searched as part of a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation in connection with involvement in the activities of the Islamic movement Tablighi Jamaat. The defence in the appeal against the sentence mentioned that during the investigation "6 times decisions were made to refuse to initiate criminal proceedings against K. Maturin and other persons in view of the fact that they did not commit extremist acts". On 10 October 2022 he was sentenced, on 21 December the court of appeal instance cancelled the sentence. On 25 July 2024, the court of first instance sentenced Maturin to a three and a half year suspended sentence.
