Case summary

Resident of St. Petersburg. Detained on 6 April 2017 after a search during which explosives were found. According to Muidinov, he was tortured during interrogation, demanded to incriminate the other defendants in the case, Ibragimzhon and Mukhamadyusup Ermatov, and to admit that he was acquainted with Akbarzhon Dzhalilov, who died in the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro on 3 April 2017. He was taken into custody on charges of involvement in the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro on 3 April 2017, as human rights activists believe, without grounds. He was placed with Russian nationalists in St Petersburg's pre-trial detention centre No 4. Muidinov believes that this was done on the initiative of an officer who demanded that he pleaded guilty.

On 10 December 2019, he was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime penal colony. On 6 August 2021, the court of appeal reduced the term by a month.
