Case summary

Resident of St. Petersburg. Detained on 6 April 2017 during a search. Ortikov claims that during the search and before interrogation he was beaten and had explosives and ammunition planted on him. He was taken into custody on charges of involvement in the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro on 3 April 2017. Human rights activists believe to be no grounds for his detention.

On 10 December 2019, he was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime colony. On 6 August 2021, the court of appeal reduced the term by a month.
