Case summary
Crimean Solidarity activist. On 27 March 2019, following a search of his residence, he was detained and on the same day taken into custody on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation due to alleged involvement in the Islamist party "Hizb ut-Tahrir", which is not known to be involved in terrorist activity. He was sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Rostov Oblast and later transferred back to Crimea. In March 2020, it became known that Osmanov was also accused of preparing to overthrow the constitutional order. On 11 January 2023, he was sentenced to 13 years in a strict regime colony.
