Case summary
A student of the Engineering and Technical Academy in Taganrog, Poruchikov was detained in the village of Bessonovka, Belgorod region, on June 3, 2023. He was fined 500 rubles on a charge of petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code), and on June 5, Poruchikov was taken into custody for 10 days under the article on appearing in a public place in a state of alcoholic intoxication (Article 20.21 of the Administrative Code). Immediately after the initial 10 days of detainment Poruchikov was detained again. On June 14, he was fined 1000 rubles under the article on petty hooliganism, and on June 15, he was taken into custody for another 10 days under the article on appearing in a public place in a state of alcohol intoxication. According to the report, Poruchikov was already in the village of Razumnoe, about 40 kilometres from Bessonovka. At the same time, he participated in the hearing via videoconference.
On June 26, 2023, he was again fined 500 rubles under the article on petty hooliganism, and on July 3, he was taken into custody for 15 days under the article on appearing in a public place in a state of intoxication. Presumably, this time, according to the protocol, he was detained in some other place. Poruchikov again participated in the hearing via videoconference. From all this, human rights defenders conclude that for a month and a half he was under the control of law enforcement agencies. Later, he was taken into custody as part of a criminal case for preparing to participate in the activities of an extremist organization and for high treason. According to the investigation, he planned to join the Freedom of Russia Legion. In October 2023, Poruchikov’s lawyer tried to appeal rulings on administrative charges, claiming the protocols were falsified and that his client signed them under torture.
On April 27, 2024, Poruchikov was sentenced to 9 years in a high-security penal colony.
