Case summary

A resident of Bakhchisarai, father of six children, also has a dependent mother with a disability. A "Crimean Solidarity" activist.

On October 25th, 2021, he was detained near the "Crimean Garrison Military Court" building, which dealt with appeals against the verdict of the "Hizb-ut-Tahrir" Red Guard group. He was charged with violation of public order due to the mass presence of citizens and was fined 10 thousand rubles.

On August 24th, 2023, FSB officers searched the homes of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisarai and other settlements of Crimea's Bakhchisarai district and detained six "Crimean Solidarity" activists, including Yakubov.

It is reported that during the search, FSB confiscated, in particular, the book "Fortress of The Muslim" — a collection of prayers, different editions of which are recognised as extremist by Russian courts (paras. 2615, 2808, 2852, 3897, 4637 of the Federal List of Extremist Materials). The collection does not contain any calls to violence and has been banned unlawfully, according to the SOVA Research Centre.
