Case summary
Zakharov is a street artist from Ulyanovsk, he creates works on topical issues, including the use of Christian symbols and images of political figures. In March 2024, Zakharov was searched in the criminal case against Pyotr Verzilov under the article on state treason. A computer and a system unit were seized from the artist. After interrogation he was released. On 26 April 2024, a case of insulting religious feelings was brought against Zakharov. On 2 May, Ulyanovsk police published a video of law enforcement officers breaking down the door to his flat and pawing his hands. Later it was reported that Zakharov was not imprisoned. On 31 July 2024, he was sentenced to a fine of 100 thousand rubles.
