Case summary
Native of Kyrgyzstan, Zainabedinov is a resident of Moscow. In September 2021, he was detained and taken into custody on charges of organising and participating in the activities of a terrorist organisation. Later he was charged only under the article on organising activities of such an organization. According to the investigation, he was one of the leaders of a cell of the Islamist party "Hizb ut-Tahrir" that is recognised as a terrorist organisation and banned in Russia. Russian authorities prosecute alleged members of this Islamist party not for terrorist activities but solely for formal party affiliation. On December 7, 2022, a verdict was handed down, details are unknown.
