Case summary
A native of Tajikistan who lived in Moscow. In September 2021, he was detained and placed in custody on charges of organizing and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. Later, the charges were reduced to participation in such activities only. According to the investigation, he participated in the activities of a cell of the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is designated as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation. Alleged members of this Islamist party are prosecuted by Russian authorities not for terrorist activities as such, but for purely formal party affiliation. On December 7, 2022, a verdict was delivered; the details are unknown.
