Case summary

A citizen journalist for Crimean Solidarity

On 11 October 2017, Ibragimov was detained after a search, charged with participating in the activities of a terrorist organisation cell, and on 12 October he was arrested. In February 2019, he was also accused of preparing for a violent seizure of power. In March, it became known that the initial accusation was reclassified as organising the activities of a terrorist organisation.

On 16 September 2020, Ibragimov was sentenced to 17 years in a strict regime colony.

Ibragimov has a group III disability because of visual impairment, one of his eyes was replaced with an artificial one more than 15 years ago. His vision has significantly deteriorated in prison conditions, and he constantly needs eye drops. Timur's wife has reported that he lost 27 kilograms of weight after being transferred to the Ryazan colony from the pre-trial detention centre in Bashkortostan a year ago. Additionally, Ibragimov has been diagnosed with a new condition — the gallstone disease. Ibragimov had to wait for six months to be taken to a hospital for an ultrasound scan and examination.
