Case summary

On 11 October 2017, he was detained after a search, charged with participation in the activities of a cell of a terrorist organisation, and arrested on 12 October. In February 2019, it became known that Saliev was also accused of public justification of terrorism and preparation for violent seizure of power.

In November, Saliev was sent to a punishment cell for checking the time of salah by clock.

On 16 September 2020, he was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony. On 15 March 2022, a court of appeal dismissed the charge of public justification of terrorism against Saliev due to the expiration of the statute of limitations and reduced the sentence by a year.
