Case summary
Novopashin is a resident of the Sverdlovsk region. He was accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organization. The investigation believed that he was involved in the movement of "citizens of the USSR". Representatives of this movement deny the collapse of the USSR; how structured this movement is and how serious a threat it poses to Russian society is unclear. Novopashin was issued a travel ban. On 14 August 2024, he was sentenced to two years in a general regime colony. Presumably, he was released in March 2026.
