In February 2017, detained and then arrested in a case of involvement in a terrorist organisation in connection with alleged involvement in the activities of the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir. Gave confessions to himself and other defendants. On 21 February 2019, sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony.
