Case summary

From 2017 until 14 May 2021, he served in the Ukrainian regiment "Azov" as responsible for storage and issuance of ammunition. Dismissed due to incomplete official compliance. Captured on 16 April 2022 during fighting in Mariupol. He was accused of organising the activities of a terrorist organisation, forcible seizure and retention of power and receiving training for terrorist activities. Human rights activists note that he is a prisoner of war, so he should not have been held criminally liable actually for participation in hostilities, and in addition, consider the charges absurd. On 26 March 2025, Grebeshkov was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime penal colony.
