Case summary
Since 2017 he served in the Ukrainian regiment "Azov" as a gunner and grenade thrower, in 2018 he was dismissed. In the spring of 2022, he was detained. He was accused of forcible seizure and retention of power, participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation and receiving training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. Human rights activists note that he is a prisoner of war, so he should not have been prosecuted for actually participating in combat. In addition, human rights activists consider the charges absurd. On 26 March 2025, Mukhin was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime penal colony.
