Case summary
From 2015 to 31 March 2022, he served in the Ukrainian regiment "Azov" as a machine gunner. On 31 March 2022, captured and then exchanged as part of a prisoner of war exchange. Prosecuted in the case of 24 people associated with Azov, accused of forcible seizure and retention of power, organising the activities of a terrorist organisation and receiving training to carry out terrorist activities. Human rights activists note that since he is a prisoner of war, he should not have been held criminally liable for actually participating in hostilities, and on top of that, consider the charges absurd. On 26 March 2025, Labinskii was sentenced in absentia to 23 years imprisonment.
