Case summary
According to the investigation, on January 19, 2022, the individuals involved filmed a model clad in underwear and a fur coat with the Moscow Cathedral Mosque as the backdrop, thus insulting the religious sentiments of believers by displaying blatant disrespect towards the mosque, an object of religious veneration. Subsequently, they disseminated information about these actions on the Internet to increase their public profile. "Chicherin A.M. selected a video featuring Reznikova E.Y. carrying out sexual provocation by unzipping her fur coat, striking various poses, revealing underwear, and exposing bare body parts against the backdrop of the mosque, all in the presence of strangers, and Katanova M.P. photographed her on a mobile phone as the most suitable for distribution on the Internet,..., through electronic communication channels carried out the distribution of the said video file to the editorial offices of the respective channels." In January 2022, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code, pertaining to the offence of insulting the religious sentiments of believers. On May 25, 2022, a justice of the peace from the judicial district No. 410 in the Meshchansky district of Moscow terminated the criminal case and prosecution, citing the reconciliation of the parties.
