Задержана в сентябре 2021 года в Москве и взята под стражу по обвинению в вовлечении в организацию массовых беспорядков в связи с перепиской в телеграм-канале "Что-Делать!", где обсуждались возможные протестные действия во время выборов в Думу. Позже стало известно, что Чернову обвинили также в возбуждении ненависти. 5 апреля 2024 года ее приговорили к пяти годам и двум месяцам колонии общего режима. Чернова вышла на свободу 11 апреля 2025 года.
