Case summary

Resident of Taganrog. On May 31, 2012, he was charged with participation in the activities of a public or religious association, in respect of which a court decision on liquidation due to extremist activities came into force due to his involvement in the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under the articles of the Criminal Code concerned with extremism solely for religious activities: meetings, joint worship services, attracting new supporters. On December 11, the court ruled that the indictment was illegal. However, even before that, in November, the investigation brought the same charge once again. On July 29 2014, he was acquitted by the Taganrog City Court. On December 12, the Rostov Regional Court cancelled the decision of the Taganrog court and sent the case for a new hearing. On January 22, new hearings began in the Taganrog court. On November 30 he was sentenced to a fine of 70 thousand rubles (exempted due to the expiration of the statute of limitations).

In April 2022, it became known that Moiseenko was suspected of participating in the activities of an extremist organisation - again due to his involvement with the Jehovah's Witnesses community. On June 20, 2023, he was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony.
