Case summary
In October 2007, Trotsyuk received a warning and a caution from the prosecutor's office on the inadmissibility of extremist activity, which in 2008 formed the basis of a lawsuit to liquidate the Jehovah's Witnesses community he headed (the lawsuit was satisfied); on 13 February 2012, Trotsyuk was taken on his own recognizance in connection with the initiation of a case of organizing the activities of a public or religious association, in respect of which a court decision on liquidation due to extremist activity came into force; on 11 December, the court ruled that the community was unlawful. On 30 November, he was sentenced to five and a half years' suspended sentence and a fine of 100,000 (he was exempted from paying the fine due to the expiry of the statute of limitations).
