Case summary

Detained on 4 February 2015 together with 30 other suspects in connection with alleged involvement in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. He was placed in custody on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation, while neither the party itself nor its members were known to be involved in terrorist activities. In January 2016, he was also accused of preparing for a violent seizure of power. On 30 July 2018, Fattakhov was sentenced to ten years in a strict regime penal colony. Supposedly, he was released on 3 February 2025.
